Q: PRE has been around for 2 years, right?
A: Yep! PRE began as a passion project for CEO Lenny Lebovich. Many people stopped eating red meat because they lost trust in the beef industry, and Lenny wanted to give customers permission to eat beef again. All 25 employees on the PRE Brands team are passionate about this mission.
Q: How long have you been in Shaw’s?
A: PRE is brand new to Shaw’s and has been on shelves for a little over one month. We are excited to bring our delicious grass fed beef and unique packaging to grocery stores in New England!
Q: Your packaging is different than any other beef in our store. Why?
A: At PRE, we know that 100% transparency matters to customers. We want our customers to be able to pick their perfect steak, so you can flip the beef in its package to see every inch of the meat. Other convenient features include:
- Easy Defrost: If you don’t have time to cook PRE while it’s fresh, throw it in the freezer. When ready to cook, remove the cardboard backing and submerge sealed pouch in cool tap water until thawed.
- Easy Peel: Our vacuum sealed package easily opens by peeling back one of the corners. You can even season your steak right in the package and not touch the raw meat!
- Sealed for Freshness: Our steaks and ground beef are vacuum sealed for freshness. No chemicals are used to artificially extend shelf life.
Q: No hormones or antibiotics are added to your beef. Tell us about that.
A: We trust in the goodness nature brings to the table. You’ll see that phrase everywhere –on our website, our brochures, etc. It’s crucial to who PRE is. Our beef is raised with old fashioned methods: 100% pasture raised, 100% grass fed and finished, no feedlots ever, no added hormones, and no added antibiotics. Trusting in the goodness of nature is anything but old-fashioned, we consider it the most modern approach to food imaginable!
Q: Where is PRE from?
A: PRE cattle come from a co-op of small farmers in New Zealand and Australia where the principles of raising beef on 100% pasture with humane treatment is the standard (rather than the exception!) The farmers we work with are held to some of the highest standards in the world when it comes to producing quality beef. Our company office is in the River North neighborhood of Chicago, IL.

Q: Do you have any recipe suggestions?
A: We love to kick off grilling season with a juicy ribeye steak! Our current obsession is ribeye tacos topped with homemade chimichurri sauce.
